Philosophy Throughout history various philosophers have investigated the metaphysics of time, responding to the question of what time is. This paper begins with the metaphysics of time as a starting point and proceeds to investigate the epistemological consequences of different experiences of time. The central question to this paper is how do people in marginalized temporalities experience life differently than those in line with the dominant temporality, and how can those differences in experience be understood. Drawing on feminist standpoint theory, I outline a framework for dealing with such epistemic differences. The paper then focuses on queer time as a different temporal experience, and the one that is central to this paper. This paper outlines one theory of queer time and the consequences queer temporalities have on queer lives.
