Teachers are examples of a professional voice users and need to maintain a healthy vocal quality to adequately provide instruction. Vocal hygiene information for current educators and preservice educators is not abundantly available, however, if education is provided, it is typically provided in a seminar. To investigate the efficacy of a vocal health seminar, a pretest/posttest research design was implemented with first-year (N = 30) and fourth-year (N = 24) music education students. Students attended a vocal health seminar and pre- and posttests were administered to examine knowledge gained during the seminar. The results indicated that students were able to provide more robust and accurate responses following the seminar. Fourth-year students who were completing their student teaching placements one semester after the seminar ended, also completed a follow-up survey during their student teaching experience. The follow-up survey revealed that students felt the seminar helped them avoid developing a voice disorder in their student teaching placements.
