This metaanalysisanalyzed ten studies to determine the effectiveness of teaching a self-monitoringintervention to students with ADHD. This study highlights the positive benefits of theimplementation of a self-monitoring intervention for students with ADHD across gradelevels, gender and classrooms. Positive benefits include improved academic attention, areduction in problem behaviors such as talking out of turn, increased accuracy andcompletion of assignments, as well as increased attention to the instruction as well asfollowing the rules of the classroom. Self-monitoring interventions can be highlyeffective in the classroom.
