This report discusses the role of the Environmental Restoration (ER) department at Battelle, my role in three projects at Battelle, and how my education played a role in my internship experience. All three projects discussed in this report were contracted to Battelle by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The first project discussed is a mercury leaching project to evaluate the leachability of mercury from a mining waste. The second study was on the oxidation and reduction of chromium in drinking water to determine the effects of chlorination on the oxidation state of chromium.
