The original fairy tales, such as the ones written by Charles Perrault, Hans Christian Andersen, E.T.A. Hoffman, and the Grimm brothers were written using these same elements in order to express these same themes presented in Poe's works. It can be argued that Poe was influenced by the tales because according to Harold Bloom's theory, writers are heavily influenced by their predecessors.
