The methodology used was Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis(IPA; Smith et al., 2013). The research question was: What are participants’ experiences ofgroup therapy in a partial hospitalization program?Two interviews were conducted over the course of a 13-week long program. Thirteenparticipants were interviewed once, and nine returned to be interviewed a second time at the endof their participation in the program. Three willing participants never returned to be interviewed.The focus of the first interview was on identifying the initial experiences of the groupexperience, whereas the second interview incorporated themes from the first interview to guideand personalize the second interview schedule. Data analysis was completed using IPAguidelines (Smith et al., 2013) while incorporating coding defined by Saldana (2013).Four superordinate themes emerged from this process and each theme had supportivesubordinate themes.
