Fine Arts Accumulations explores the notion of infinite growth with the use of both organic and linear forms, repeated on a large scale. While the pieces may seem overwhelming because of their size, a minimalistic aesthetic is established through the use of a limited palette and unifying visual elements. The five pieces included in Accumulations make use of drawing, stitching, knotting, and folding as a means to establish a single, repeated motif. Evidence of accumulation is visible in marks, motifs, and paper forms that are organized consciously, and sometimes unconsciously to create larger objects that appear both familiar and mysterious. The work is created through intensive hand stitching and drawing, transforming common materials, such as paper and thread, into something of value through time. The visual effect of the work suggests movement and growth. Rich texture results from layers of information and the accumulation of many small elements, combined to create large scale pieces that are greater than the sum of their parts. While the components that make up the final pieces seem simple, they become something dynamic and activated when seen en masse.
