American Literature fiction genetic manipulation genre hybrid linked stories This thesis will contain a series of fictional stories. Best described as a “ring” of stories, each self-contained narrative will help to build upon an overarching, premise-driven structure. This overarching premise assumes that genetic manipulation of human beings has taken place since WWII. The stories all interact within this shared history and revelations of this world are slowly unfolded as the book progresses. The genetic manipulation is utilized to highlight human behavior that is “animal-like” and explores the essence of the human condition while placing characters in situations that highlight searches for identity and community.
