Scardillo, Anthony Management Organizational Behavior fun at work job satisfaction mentoring role model selflessness personal fulfillment joy of training The fact is that over 70% of all employees are NOT having Fun at Work. While the reasons are many—and have been studied by other authors—we believe that the main cause for this dissension is directly related to the amount of Fun at Work for Managers. Our theory is that if Managers are having Fun at Work, then Employees will have Fun at Work in a kind of give-and-take feedback loop. This increase in Fun then increases the Job Satisfaction for both the Employees and the Managers. Through our Qualitative Study in September 2015, we discovered that the most significant factor to having Fun at Work for both Employees and Managers was Mentoring. Further research of the literature on this topic revealed a wide body of knowledge on the effect of Mentoring on the Protégé, but very little research on the impact on the Manager. Based on those findings, we initiated a quantitative study in November 2016 to further study the effect of Mentoring on both the Employee and Manager, and whether or not Fun at Work played a significant role in increasing their level of Job Satisfaction. Our findings indicate a direct, positive and significant relationship between Mentoring and Job Satisfaction. That relationship is then further positively and significantly affected when both parties are having Fun at Work. 2017 English text Case Western Reserve University Doctor of Management / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=casedm1556803713716787 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=casedm1556803713716787 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: all rights reserved.
