Biomechanics biomechanics surgical planning medical device ophthalmology FDA refractive error modeling FEA Finite Element Analysis Biomechanical prediction of refractive surgery outcomes is a relatively new field in ophthalmology. OptoQuest is the first company in the field based on using finite element analysis to predict refractive surgery outcomes on a patient-specific basis. Getting this technology to market requires the understanding of the human ocular system, refractive error prevalence, incidence, prevention, and treatment as well as regulatory barriers between research and marketing approval. After analyzing these crucial areas, it is understood that the scientific support and marketing need for this technology is both adequate and sufficient to conclude that OptoQuest has a marketable technology. 2016-01-26 English text Case Western Reserve University School of Graduate Studies / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=case1447778132 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=case1447778132 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: some rights reserved.
