Millions of adults over age forty are affected by the diseases and there exists an impending need for a safe and effective treatment. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the scientific and market potential of a novel stem cell therapy being developed as an alternative treatment. The aim is to treat diabetic retinopathy through the process of therapeutic angiogenesis with ex vivo expanded stem cells transfected with VEGF-PDGF growth factors.
