Emerging technologies are continuously increasing the number of metabolites that can be detected. Now there exists a need for computational tools to help clinical researchers to derive meaningful interpretations of metabolomics data. In this thesis we propose a metabolomic analysis workbench called PathCaseMAW which provides (1) A web accessible metabolic pathway database which supports online browsing and querying, and is novel in that it includes location information for pathways and also models transport processes. (2) Tissue-aware visualization support for viewing process, pathways or groups of pathways from our database. (3) An online tool which allows users to upload their own observed/measured metabolite level changes and computationally identifies the mechanisms that produce those metabolite changes. 2009 English text Case Western Reserve University School of Graduate Studies / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=case1222895452 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=case1222895452 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: all rights reserved.
