One of the major problems that Generation IV reactors face is the damages that using Molten salts or liquid metals may cause to the structure. Iron, Nickel and Chromium metals are observed under thermoluminescence to better understand the defects that are formed in the oxides of these metals. Investigating these defects allows for an understanding of how the potential harsh environments may affects the material used. Each of these metals were exposed to air and high temperature to simulate similar conditions of a nuclear reactor. The formation of Fe2O3, Fe3O4, NiO, CrO, and Cr2O3 were determined through X-ray Diffraction measurements.
