Fifty-three percent of the randomly selected sample schools submitted usable returns. This percent yielded a group of 490 Ohio Public Elementary School Teachers. Principals of these teachers were ranked according to percentages of satisfactory answers they received on part I of the Survey of Administrative Functional Efficiency. This rank order method produced the two dichotomies of administrators, "high efficiency" and "low efficiency," utilized in this study. A total of 325 teachers, representing the "high" and "low" efficiency groups of administrators, were used in this research. Instrument S.A.F.E. developed by Dr. Leslie J. Chamberlin of Bowling Green State University and Dr. William J. Beausay of Bluffton College was used to gather data concerning the perception of teachers on administrative functional efficiency. The rank order method and the one way analysis of variance were the statistics used to determine the level of relationships which existed within the data. These hypotheses dealt with teachers' perception of administrative functional efficiency as it is affected by teachers' age, sex, teachers' years of teaching experience, teachers' tenure in a school building, teachers' work experience with a principal, teachers' residence (in school district, outside school district), teachers' educational attainment, and teacher pupil ratio. All of the above null hypotheses were tested at the .O5 level of significance using the one way analysis of variance. The computed F value of all listed hypotheses failed to reject the null hypotheses at the .O5 level of significance. 1976 English text Bowling Green State University / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=bgsu1566302070904289 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=bgsu1566302070904289 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: all rights reserved.
