Each cell received one treatment of a black or white speaker delivering a live or video-taped "racial" or "non-racial" speech. The 2 x 2 x 2 factorial design was employed to test whether differences would be obtained on racial, media, or message dimensions. Various multivariate analyses revealed significant main effects and an higher order A x B x C interaction. The latter was utilized in analysis of the results. Only one of the four hypotheses were confirmed. It revealed race as the dominant phenomenon differintiating subject reactions to the speakers. Subjects evaluated all but one of the black speakers on topic and personality variables.
