Richard Higher Education Evidence suggests that operational and organizational strategies and practices exist which guide the selection of alternatives to the decision making process. The objectives as recognized by this study are to discover and to analyze the operational and organizational strategies and practices of current experimental colleges. Further, it investigates the relationship among purported theoretical, existent, and suggested strategies and practices in an attempt to provide needed empirical data to the study of the formal organization of the experimental college concept. A plethora of experimental college strategies and practices were compiled by reviewing literature, records, and plans, and by interviewing officials and students of colleges and universities. Through analysis of such information, it became apparent that considerable differences existed between theory and practice. This study addresses itself to an assessment of those commonalities and differences. The information collected was synthesized and compiled in data-gathering instruments which were administered to a substantial number of experimental college officials. Standard statistical techniques, including identification of significant differences, are utilized in the analyses of data. Through a summary of data assembled the study identifies the relationships among theoretical, existent, and suggested organizational and operational strategies and practices in experimental colleges. Further, it determines a framework and basis for plausible model guidelines which could maximize experimental college potential. The dissertation also identifies certain experimental college problems which need further research. Also, possible implications are presented for those in higher education concerned with curriculum, organization, methodology, and student affairs. 1972 English text Bowling Green State University / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=bgsu1555931250428067 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=bgsu1555931250428067 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: all rights reserved.
