Therefore, academic vocabulary should be explained and used explicitly in classroom resources. This study aimed to identify whether the academic vocabulary determined by the Common Core State Standards - Mathematics was present in three textbooks and determine how that vocabulary was presented. This study is considered a modified content analysis and included researcher-formed protocols. After examining the three chosen textbooks, the researcher determined that a majority of the academic vocabulary was present in all three textbooks. Also, the most used text features for the portrayl of academic vocabulary were bold-faced print and symbolic representation along with the term being used multiple times throughout the text.
