Polymer Chemistry Polymers LMOG low molecular mass organogelators Low molecular mass organogelators (LMOGs) are small molecules that can self-assemble into fibers in organic solutions to form interconnected networks that immobilize the solvent resulting in the formation of a gel. LMOGs have a wide range of possible applications including thickeners for use in cosmetics and foods, reverse templating and drug delivery applications. 12-hydroxystearic acid has been shown to be a good LMOG in a range of high boiling point solvents. The use of high boiling point solvents resulted in gels that can be analyzed using DSC to determine their phase behavior.
