Psychology feedback environment <p>The feedback environment (FE) is a relatively new construct in the field of industrial/organizational psychology; as such, the research on it is nascent. One area of FE research that has been left untouched is the antecedents that lead to the development of a particular feedback environment. The current effort attempted to begin this line of research by investigating personality, implicit person theory, and regulatory focus of supervisors and the influence that they have on subordinates’ perceptions of the feedback environment.</p><p>Results of the hypotheses were not particularly encouraging; the only significant hypothesis was that supervisors who are more agreeable have subordinates who perceive a more favorable feedback delivery than supervisors who are less agreeable. Exploratory analyses were conducted to investigate other possible antecedents of the feedback environment. Subordinate promotion focus and supervisor organizational tenure emerged as significant predictors of subordinate perceptions of feedback environment.
