Mechanical Engineering Vibrations van der Waal nano Nanotube Nano tube carbon <p>This paper presents a model of multi-walled carbon nanotubes in which adjacenttubes are connected by a viscoelastic layer between to model inter-atomic van der Waals forces as well as inherent damping within the material. The model constructed would be of assistance to researchers in developing an experimentally determined value for the damping of multi-walled nanotubes.</p><p>The free response is obtained using state-space modeling. The forced response isthen obtained using modal analysis. The damping ratios for free vibrations are examined as well as three types of forced vibrations.
