Summary:The financial management task of the School Principal is comprehensive and complicated. There are not only departmental moneys which have to be supervised administratively by the Principal but also the moneys, which are collected by the school, this in itself calls for great managerial skills. Knowledge of these financial matters, means of collection, control and expenditure of the School Funds indispensable. The progressive development and improvement of the educational level of a school is inseparably coupled to successful and efficient financial management. Financial stability is achieved by planned management. The aim of this research project was to determine which methods could be used to collect funds within the framework of departmental prescriptions. Furthermore it was determined who is involved with the collection and planning of School Funds and which managerial skills are required to plan School Funds. An •extensive study of literature concerning educational management, financial educational management and educational finance was undertaken. Interviews with questionnaires were conducted with primary school Principals.
