Description
Summary:Organ transplantation saves lives. Once considered a last resort for critically ill patients, it is now a practical treatment for freeing kidney patients from dialysis machines and giving patients dying from heart, liver, lung and pancreatic disease a second chance for life. Unfortunately, the number of human organs available for transplant has never been sufficient to meet the need. Many transplant candidates die waiting for an organ that does not come. This research looks at the challenge of securing human organs for transplantation by examining the laws that have been enacted to attempt to alleviate this shortage.
