Includes bibliographical references (p. 96-97). All buildings have in their section a relationship to the landscape on which they are sited. Therefore we as inhabitants of these buildings may or may not have a relationship with the landscape. It is the supposition of this thesis that the relationship is important, understandable, and assimilable. Selected buildings and their landscapes were examined to reveal some of these relationships. A notebook where observations, processes, thoughts and works were recorded, was used as a method of inquiry. Finally a design which draws on the assimilated knowledge of the building/landscape relationship is put forward. by Daniel B. Johnson.
