Description
Summary:A flow apparatus was designed for the experimental investigation of ignition delays of various fuels injected into a hot pure air stream of temperatures up to 1350°1. Results for the four gaseous. paraffins are g1ven for various gas flows and two air nows. It was found that the ignition delays increase w1th the gas fiow and decrease with air flow. The activation energy of the reactions was oomputed trom the straight part of the curves plotted where the effect of the time required for the mixture formation is small. The whole spontaneous ignition problem is described qualitatively and the problems involved are pointed out.
