The variables studied were - sex of the retardate, number of years in attendance at the Kinsmen School (a training school for retarded children in Winnipeg), number of years in present residence, and number of siblings in the retardate's family. The project was conducted in Winnipeg, Manitoba from October, 1966 to April, 1967. The total population of twenty-eight subjects was derived from a nominal list provided by the Association for Retarded Children in Greater Winnipeg, and data was obtained by means of direct interviews with the parents(s) or guardians(s) of the young adult retardates, employing a schedule. An analysis of the findings revealed no consistent relationship between the amount and variety of participation in work and leisure activities and the four variables, as postulated in the main hypothesis. The findings were inconclusive, and the main hypothesis was not confirmed. 2012-05-10T21:14:35Z 2012-05-10T21:14:35Z 1967 http://hdl.handle.net/1993/5629
