Summary: | Physics-based character simulation is an important open problem with potential applications in robotics and biomechanics and computer animation for films and games. In this thesis we develop controllers for the real-time simulation of several motion skills, including standing balance, walking, forward rolling, and lateral rolling on the ground. These controllers are constructed from a common set of components. We demonstrate that the combination of a suitable vocabulary of components and optimization has the potential to model a variety of skills. |
