Previous issue date: 2017-02-23 === Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES === The object of this study was focused on the comprehension of the processes that underpin the epistemological and pedagogical basis of the literacy cycle, based on PNAIC, which was instituted in 2012 with the aim of teaching literacy to all children up to the 8-year-old age. Through the principles of ethnographic case study, a qualitative approach was performed in this study, with the use of continuous observation, bibliographic and school document analysis, studies of PNAIC material of Portuguese Language and the execution of semi-structured interviews involving teachers who act on the literacy cycle of a Public School in the Education Municipal Network of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The data was studied through the principles of textual-discursive analysis. This study is relied on the contributions of Paulo Freire, Magda Soares, Marli Andr?, Maurice Tardif, Ana Maria Saul, Andr?a Rapoport, Norberto Bobbio, Jos? Carlos Lib?neo, Francisco Imbern?n, Ant?nio N?voa, among others, promoting a dialogue among theorists and their fundamentals with the empirical field. The research results show the necessity of articulated planning among the literacy-cycle teachers, in order to encourage the horizontal dialogue (within the same year) and vertical (within the three years), strengthening the cycle idea as a gradual process, without interruptions and cuts. The results also signalized to the importance of school educational and pedagogical organization during the process, as well as the need of reflection for recreating and reinventing new ways for bringing the classroom closer to the demands of the current reality concerning to the literacy cycle, === O objeto desse estudo foi centrado na compreens?o dos processos que sustentam a base epistemol?gica e pedag?gica do ciclo de alfabetiza??o na perspectiva do Pacto Nacional pela Alfabetiza??o na Idade Certa (PNAIC), que foi institu?do em 2012 com o intuito de alfabetizar todas as crian?as at? os oito anos de idade.
