Summary:Made available in DSpace on 2015-04-14T13:33:05Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 448851.pdf: 945892 bytes, checksum: 6bbd898431feb603edd52083b1611a04 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-03-30 === Objective: the aim of this study was to evaluate the lung function in children with Down syndrome by impulse oscillometry technique. Methods: the study was conducted at the Institute of Biomedical Research of the Hospital S?o Lucas, Porto Alegre, from November to February 2012. The study included all children with Down syndrome, from 06 to 18 years old. We excluded children who were under continued use of psychotropic drugs, immunosuppressant s, muscle relaxants or others drugs that may interfere with the results and failure to understand the tests. Results: the study included 14 children, but only 11 were able performs acceptable maneuvers oscillometry. 7 were male; most were Caucasian (71%) and mean age was 06 to 18 years. The mean body mass index was 22. The group presented an increase in resistance and reactance values decreased. Regarding the data pulse oscillation, DS patients had increased the mean resistance over the reference population, since the inductance has lower values compared to the reference group. Conclusion: children with DS showed the present mean values of airway resistance increased and the average reactance decreased when measured by impulse oscillometry. Esses dados caracterizam o padr?o ventilat?rio obstrutivo nesta popula??o
