Summary:Made available in DSpace on 2015-04-14T13:30:30Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 452968.pdf: 1779851 bytes, checksum: 6d3d5366238c50a7f73a3e905f25cb70 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-04-25 === The tomography-based virtual planning systems allow the surgeon to select the best location for the placement of dental implants. Taking the virtual planning from the computer into reality correctly is attached to a great number of factors.. The aim of this study was to analyse the precision of linear measurements performed in two different virtual planning softwares, when compared to the linear measurements performed on a real object. Eight human mandible replicas were used in this study. Linear measurements were performed in specific points of this replicas. The same measurements were made using the virtual planning softwares, and then compared to the real object. Statistically significant difference between the groups was found. The Nobelguide software group presented significantly lower values when compared to the real mandibles, while the Dentalslice software group showed significantly higher values, compared to the real measurements. Within the limitations of this in vitro study, the authors conclusion is that further studies are needed to determine the applicability of virtual planning sotwares on the clinical pactice.
