Demonstrate the importance of this education for the personal change that this teaching can bring to the interviewed students, young people and adults, who attend this modality in two schools in São Paulo. To verify if the education of young people and adults has influence for the "construction" of the citizenship of the students that attend the school, locus of research for this work. === O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar e analisar a modalidade de Educação de Jovens e Adultos dentro de uma perspectiva histórica desse movimento educacional no Brasil. Demonstrar a importância dessa forma de educação para a mudança pessoal que esse ensino poderá trazer para os alunos entrevistados, jovens e adultos, que cursam a modalidade em duas escolas de São Paulo. Verificar se a educação de jovens e adultos tem influência para a “construção” da cidadania dos alunos que frequentam a escola, lócus de pesquisa para este trabalho.
