The adult form may be frequently found in flowers looking for nectar. However, for many species of Heliconius (Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae) to visit the flower also represents the collecting of pollen, an important source of protein for adults. The protein obtained from the pollen allows the maintenance of physiological processes that increase the performance of the individual, promoting greater longevity and egg production. For males, proteins can also be part in your investment in reproductive success and fitness of offspring through a nutritional contribution that is transferred to the female in the act of mating as a nuptial present. It is known that this protein contains essential to the performance of the female oviposition, however the proportion of content and specific importance to the monogamous and polygamous species is not known yet. Whereas the species studied in this work have different patterns of mating in the strategy was to verify a significant difference in the quality of the spermatophore, and H. erato and H. melpomene, on the amount of protein present in this structure, indicating a difference in investment between the male reproductive strategies === Borboletas s?o insetos bem conhecidos, presentes em uma grande diversidade de ambientes e de f?cil identifica??o visual. A forma adulta pode ser freq?entemente encontrada em flores em busca de n?ctar. Entretanto, para muitas esp?cies de Heliconius (Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae) a visita a flores tamb?m representa a coleta de p?len, uma importante fonte de prote?na para os adultos. A prote?na obtida do p?len permite a manuten??o de processos fisiol?gicos que refor?am o desempenho do indiv?duo, promovendo maior longevidade e produ??o de ovos. Para os machos, prote?nas podem tamb?m fazer parte no seu investimento no sucesso reprodutivo e na aptid?o da prole, atrav?s de uma contribui??o nutricional que ? transferida para a f?mea no ato da c?pula, como um presente nupcial. Sabe-se que este presente cont?m prote?nas essenciais para o desempenho da f?mea na oviposi??o, entretanto a propor??o dos conte?dos e a import?ncia espec?fica para as esp?cies monog?micas e polig?micas ainda n?o ? conhecida. Considerando que as esp?cies estudadas nesse trabalho apresentam diferentes padr?es na estrat?gia de acasalamento p?de-se verificar uma significativa diferen?a na qualidade dos espermat?foros, entre H. erato e H. melpomene, em rela??o ? quantidade de prote?na presente nessa estrutura, indicando uma diferen?a no investimento do macho entre as estrat?gias reprodutivas
