=== Neutropenia is caused adverse effect after administration of antineoplastic drugs, such as cyclophosphamide, used for treatment of different neoplasms. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and immunomodulatory micronutrient, but little is known about its action against the neutropenia. Thus the aim of this study was to evaluate the supplementation of Vitamin C on cyclophosphamide-induced neutropenia (CLF) and weight loss in mice. The study was conducted with vitamin supplementation C 50 mg /kg intraperitoneal (i.p.) for 7 days in female mice, Swiss albino, adult, immunosuppressed with CLF, divided into four groups of eight animals each: Control group (distilled water i.p.) , CLF (150 mg / kg i.p. on day 1 and 100 mg / kg i.p. on day 4), vitamin C (50 mg / kg i.p., daily) and CLF + VITC (Cyclophosphamide 250 mg /kg i.p. and vitamin C 50 mg / kg i.p.). The CLF group showed significant weight loss of 24% on the third day compared to the control group. When co-administered vitamin C and CLF there was a significant interaction, so, vitamin C enhanced the decrease in neutrophils. Vitamin C did not interfere with leukocyte values. The results showed that supplementation of vitamin C 50 mg / kg i.p. for 7 days intensified neutropenia induced by cyclophosphamide (250 mg / kg i.p.) and the weight did not prevent weight loss in mice induced CLF the end of the biological experiment.
