Mère LOye, piece by the French composer Maurice Ravel, through which there will be a search for an interlocution with apparently extramusical elements, discussing the artistic and cultural universe from that time as well as the symbolist poets ideas. So as to follow this purpose, three topics are considered essential to address Ma Mère LOye: the understanding of the concept of art based on a language which is suggestive, spiritual, filled with musical effects and which is elaborated
after meticulous planning; the study and signification of fairy tales as a literary style in this scenery and; at last, the analysis of Ravels piece not only focusing on elements related to its musical building, but, also observing it trough an imaginative and literary view, combined with ideas expressed in specific texts by Charles Baudelaire and Edgar Allan Poe. === Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre interpretação e tem como foco Ma Mère LOye, obra do compositor francês Maurice Ravel, através da qual se buscará uma interlocução com elementos aparentemente extramusicais, tratando do universo artístico-cultural da época e das idéias defendidas pelos poetas simbolistas. Seguindo este intento, três tópicos se colocam como fundamentais para essa abordagem de Ma Mère LOye: o entendimento da concepção da arte baseada numa linguagem sugestiva, espiritual, repleta de efeitos musicais e elaborada a partir de um planejamento meticuloso; o estudo e a significação do
gênero literário contos de fadas nesse cenário e; por último, a análise dessa obra de Ravel não apenas focando os elementos referentes à sua construção musical, mas, observando-os por um enfoque literário e imaginativo, conjugado a idéias expressas em textos específicos de Charles Baudelaire e Edgar Allan Poe.
