=== Disserta??o (Mestrado Profissional) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Sa?de, Sociedade e Ambiente, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2017. === Religious communities of diverse ramifications use sound or music to aid in the reestablishment of health. In order to achieve this, they promote a meeting with the deities in another dimension, which helps them heal. They use musical instruments, especially the percussive ones, which are the link between the Terrain and the Divine. Inspired in this curious and instigating universe, the present study focuses on a relationship between the social view of the disease, the social view of nature and the healing practices that surround it. Practices practiced by traditional communities that use music and spirituality as ways of activating health. The main objective of the research is to seek the perception of members of religious communities, especially Candombl?, about the influence and / or feeling caused by sound or music during religious ritual (cult), and its influence on the health / disease process . It is a study aimed at a social context, which used the resource of semi-structured interviews, participant observation and employment of thematic oral history. The fieldwork was developed in Candombl? Il? Ax? Abalua? and Mamma Oxum Terreiros located in Diamantina - Minas Gerais. It was verified that music is essential in the life of the people of the traditional communities of Candombl?. Music that demonstrates to be essential support for the religiosity exercised in rituals, especially those of healing. All this is surrounded by a deep emotion, originated by the inseparable trilogy: percussive music, song and dance, where faith nourishes the hope of a well-being founded by nature, which is the spiritual 'cradle' of Afro cults. It was also noticed that the Candombl? de Diamantina-Minas Gerais terreiros know how to live, with religious intolerance, but it is understood that the candomblecistas nourish 'sorrow' to deal with it.
