Description
Summary:This research uses air pollution data, information about the locations of the air quality monitoring stations, and political events data from 2016 to 2017 to investigate the possible existence and characteristics of China’s routine short-term environmental policies aimed for ambient air quality. The results of multiple difference-in-difference suggest that air quality in the urban area, where ambient air pollution levels are usually higher due to population density, is lower on diplomatic events dates, while there is limited evidence that air quality is better in the urban area on domestic events dates. Therefore, this research reveals that there are short-term policies taking place on diplomatic events dates.
