Description
Summary:<p>Four series of tests were made on flat, unstiffened panels under combined shear and compression loading for two thicknesses and two length over width ratios. In each case, the panels were carried to their ultimate loads. An empirical relation was developed for the variation of shear and compressive stresses of the form: (Pc/Pco) + (Ps/Pso)4 = 1, <br /> where:<br /> Pco = failure stress, pure compression,<br /> Pso = failure stress, pure shear. <br /> The above equation was found to hold for the entire range of thicknesses and length over width ratios investigated.</p>
