An effort was made to obtain heat transfer per unit volume of porous metal as a function of (1) mass flows and (2) temperatures at which the metal was heated. By varying inlet gas pressures at various metal temperatures the effect of temperature on pressure drop was determined. The results show that a cool gas flowing through a heated porous metal very quickly assumes the temperature of the metal. Heat transfer appears to increase linearly with mass flow up to a certain point above which the results were inconclusive.
