Description
Summary:This thesis is an original full length play written for production in the Ball State University Studio Theatre. The bulk of the thesis is the script of the play, The Scapegoat's Agony, with an introduction to the problems posited by the University theatre system to the aspiring playwright. As no attempt has been made to review literature dealing with playwrighting this thesis falls within the "creative" as opposed to the "research" type of project. The play was completed in September of '71, revised in October and November; revised during rehearsals; and finally presented in November of 1971.In addition, the thesis contains various critical reactions to the play as a written script. These reactions were solicited by the author previous to the opening of the play for the specific purpose of the thesis as an academic project. Also contained are several recommendations concerning future projects of this type.
