Summary:The ideal bandpass filter is defined as one which uniformly attenuates and delays all frequency components within the passband and effects zero transmission of all components outside the passband. For reasons which will be subsequently discussed, it is impossible to realize a stable lumped-element filter having this ideal characteristic. This has made it necessary to find ways to physically approximate such a characteristic. Some of the more widely used methods will be compared and analyzed in this paper.
