Summary: | The construction industry plays a major role in our country's economic growth. In Malaysia, the implementation of Industrialised Building System (IBS) by using precast concrete elements were introduced since 1966 when the government launched two pilot projects in 1966 which involves the construction of Tuanku Abdul Rahman Flats in Kuala Lumpur and the Rifle Range Road Flats in Penang. Lately, Malaysia government strongly support the usage of IBS in construction industry due to its quality assurance, shorter construction period, cleaner site condition, safer working environment and reduction in labour dependency. Efforts to make IBS a success are not sufficient without the participation and support from the private sector. Research carried out to ensure the suitability IBS for housing development in the country. There are 30 respondents among developer within Klang Valley. The objective of this research is to determine the advantages and disadvantages of the IBS .from developer perception. The data collected by using questionnaire survey for developers and an interview with the all parties who's involved in construction industry. The data was being analysed with Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS) version 11.5. The result shown that respondent knows about IBS and the advantages also disadvantages of IBS. Developer already take a fully responsibility to implemented IBS concurrent with Government Policy. Current practise, a part of IBS was be done for the government housing project inclusive private project. From the research study the finding IBS will be involve in various types of housing development. To realise the IBS usage in the industry every parties need to play their role.
