|a This dissertation provides a critical review of psychodynamic literature exploring the dynamics of psychotherapeutic teams in residential and milieu settings. The review synthesises and critiques psychodynamic literature regarding the influences upon, and effects of, staff relationships in these settings. In particular the review includes consideration of the impact of staff relationships on clinical treatment and outcomes. The implications for clinical practice and opportunities for further research are also considered.
