Description
Summary:The fading of object. Presence and absence in Roland Barthes. Starting from Barthes’ philosophical perspective, the article analyses the relationship between subject and object, the latter giving itself in a play of presence and absence, appearance and disappearance. If subjectivity is permanent lack, constant wish of fulfillment, the object does not reveal itself as completely satisfying: in fact it appears as fading, as evanescence eluding the vouloir-saisir of the subject. The objective presence can thus be hallucinating, and as a result be turned into a image.
