Summary:Sexual violence is an event of high incidence occurring in different socio- economicbackgrounds, cultures, fields and stages of life. Nationwide, the statistics are staggeringand there is a special concern for Cartagena, city in which reports of sexual violencehave raised as a result of increased sexual tourism in recent years. Therefore, this issuebecomes important and we need to raise awareness among health workers to achievean adequate approximation to the victims. In this context, the purpose of this paperis to make some notes from medical and legal point of view about the participation ofhealth care staff in handling cases of sexual violence and provide recommendations.RESUMEN:La violencia sexual es un hecho de alta incidencia que ocurre en diferentes estratossocio-económicos, culturas, esferas y etapas de la vida. A nivel nacional las cifras sonalarmantes y existe una preocupación especial por la ciudad de Cartagena, ya queen los últimos años los reportes de casos de violencia sexual fruto del turismo sexualhan aumentado. Por todo lo anterior, este tema cobra importancia y se hace necesariosensibilizar a los trabajadores del área de la salud sobre esta problemática para unabordaje adecuado de las víctimas. En este contexto, el objeto de este documentoes hacer algunas anotaciones desde la mirada médico jurídica sobre la participacióndel profesional de la salud en el manejo de casos de la violencia sexual y brindarrecomendaciones.
