Description
Summary:Surely it will not be possible, in the brief space of this article, to make a deeper analysis of his compositions that can discuss the duplicity of his seemingly contradictory character: the primitive art, naive, rustic, which is constructed by means of an accurate technique, sustaining the knowledge of a scholar. But, surely, it will be possible to achieve the goal of arousing curiosity not only for Cássio M’Boy’s painting, more widespread, but also to his sculpture and especially to the cultural universe that evaporates from his canvases and objects. Moreover, this space will be like a speaking trumpet of the artist’s voice itself, in a disclosure of his Memórias - a book in which he recounts important events of his life, episodes related to the genesis of his art, and his memories as an introducer of cultural experiences in the small M'Boy Village. His memoir – Cássio do M’Boy ou M’Boy do Cássio (Cássio of M'Boy or M'Boy of Cássio) - is presently held by the City Hall of Estância Turística de Embu, for publication, and the excerpts cited here are completely unedited.
