Summary:The article presents alternatives for sustainable management of forest landscapes based on the analysis of Teteven area in Bulgaria. The conclusions are a result of research of 21 main factors, which are identified and evaluated with varying weight by experts and classified in five groups: environmental, social, economic, technological and political. In order to identify the most important and key factors, a structural analysis is applied. The alternatives are summarised in four scenarios called No Management, Ecological and Close to the Nature, Traditional Management and Maximum Potential Benefit.
