The Functions of Family Business in the Modern Ukrainian Society

The present paper concerns the phenomenon of family business. The author makes an attempt to give the definition for family business which can be relevant for sociological study. Special emphasis is given to the fact that family business not only has different types but also a special status and role structure which to certain extent depends on the distribution of family roles and influences the functioning of business. Taking into account theoretical basis of modern scholars as for the functions of family business its main economic and social functions are determined and its cultural capital is outlined. Family business is stated to influence the social and economic development of the country through implementation of different social functions.
