En busca de la tierra prometida. Modelos de colonización estatal en la frontera sur bonaerense durante el siglo XIX

The aim of this work is to examine, throughout a synthesis of historical and archeological investigations, different models of state colonization (provincial and national) that were implemented in the south frontier of Buenos Aires province during the 19th century. We emphasize on practical results depending on the contexts, local conjunctures and social interaction, bearing in mind official policies towards different social groups and their actions. We use a micro-regional scale of analysis, involving current Azul, Tapalqué and Olavarría political jurisdictions (with epicentre in the Nievas creek), where these models -through which the State intended to expand its territory and consolidate its control along the 19th century- were applied. The temporal framework includes short and medium term scales, from the beginning of state colonization during the first decades of the century up to the settlement of russian-german inmigrants agricultural colonies in the last quarter of it. We discuss the traditional thesis of military unilateral expansion as well as the direct correspondence between the successive governments with specific social sectors, standing out their miscegenation, overlapping and complexity.
