Summary: | The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Shafiabady multi-axial pattern of vocational choice (SMPVC) and Gottfredson theory of circumscription and compromise (GTCC) on the job burnout of the staff in the Social Security Organization in Tehran. The semi-experimental research was conducted using pretest-posttest and a control group. The population consisted of all medical documents employees of the Social Security Organization in Tehran (n=420) among which 45 people with higher scores of the Maslach Burnout Questionnaire were selected randomly and assigned in three groups (n=15). Two experimental groups received group counselling with Shafiabadi’s multi-axial pattern and Gottfredson’s theory of circumscription and compromise and one group was considered as control group. The two experimental groups attended eight 90-minute sessions separately and the participants’ burnout levels were measured after the intervention. The collected data were analyzed using covariance analysis and post hoc ben Ferroni test. The results showed that interventions affected the burnout. At the same time there appeared significant difference between the two approaches concerning the reduction of frequency and intensity of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and increasing personal performance frequency, effectiveness of the SMPVC being more than that of GTCC in reducing job burnout. |
