Based on my experience as sociology professor and researcher in an interdisciplinary research program (geography, architecture and sociology) on public spaces in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates, 2018-2020) where students were involved in the data collection. In a context where fieldwork research can be tricky, public spaces appeared to be ideal locations for survey and training and a place where students gave us an additional entry into the understanding of social interactions and various uses of the city.http://journals.openedition.org/cdg/7554Public spacesResearch methodsPedagogyTeaching methodsUnited Arab Emirates
