Description
Summary:The studies concerning the importance of stretching in developing the mobility are not numerous. There are even less studies about the development of mobility in middle-age persons. They were conducted to observe the effects of stretching immediately before the actual physical exercise, more precisely, to see whether it improves or worsens the athletic performances, and whether it helps or not in preventing injuries. The results are contradictory and do not follow the effects of stretching on a long term basis. In most of the professional literature dealing with adaptation to effort and state of health of people of various ages, one can see a neglect of the middle-age category as an interesting subject for a study. One possible reason might the difficulty for the persons in this period of their lives to accept the short and long term effects that the morphological, physiological, and functional modifications can have at this age, and as a result, to change their lifestyle. The aim of this paper is to determine whether the regular practice of stretching has any effect on the development of mobility in middle-age persons. Increasing the people's freedom of movement can greatly increase their quality of life, that is why if there is a chance that these observations will bring new conclusions to light, then this is a subject that deserves to be explored.
